What We Believe

Statement of Faith

The GodHead

We believe in one God, Creator of all things, who is manifest in the three persons: The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. (Philippians 2:6; John 14:21-26).

The Lord Jesus Christ

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, was crucified, died and was buried but was resurrected on the third day and later ascended into heaven and is now seated at the right hand of God the Father and is true God and true man. (1 John 4:9; Matthew 1:20; Matthew 1:23; Mark 15-16).

The Scriptures

We believe the Bible in its entirety to be the inspired Word of God and the infallible rule of faith and conduct. (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21; 1 Thessalonians 2:13).

The Fall of Man

We believe that as a result of a deceit of the devil, the first created man, Adam, chose to disobey God, causing sin to come into the world, destroying the close relationship mankind had with God (Genesis 3) and from that point on, all of mankind was considered to have sinned, coming short of the glory of God and could not be restored to God through their own actions. (Romans 3:23; Romans 3:10).

God’s Redemption of Man

We believe that God loved mankind so much that, from the point of the Fall, God began to implement His plan of salvation that ultimately led to Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, being born on earth to undo the work of the devil by giving His life and shedding His blood to redeem and restore mankind back to God (the Atonement of Christ). (Romans 5:12; Romans 3:23; Romans 3:10; 1 John 3:8; John 3:16).

Salvation

We believe in the personal salvation of believers through the shed blood of Jesus Christ and that salvation is the gift of God to man, separate from works and the law, and is made operative by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, producing works acceptable to God. (Ephesians 2:8).

Repentance, New Birth & Eternal Life

We believe that a person’s first step toward salvation is godly sorrow that leads to repentance (a turning away from pursuing selfish goals & a turning back to obedience to God) and the reception of Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, in whom is found eternal life. This experience is also known as the new birth and is an instantaneous and complete operation of the Holy Spirit upon initial faith in Christ. This new birth through Jesus is the only way for salvation to occur and is available to all mankind. (2 Corinthians 7:10; 1 John 5:12; John 3:3-5).

Water Baptism

We believe that water Baptism is a direct commandment of our Lord, that it is Baptism in water by immersion, for believers only and is a symbol of the Christian’s identification with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection. (Matthew 28:19; Romans 6:4; Colossians 2:12; Acts 8:36-39).

Baptism in the Holy Spirit

We believe in the Baptism in the Holy Spirit as distinct from the New Birth, with the usual biblical evidence of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit of God gives utterance (Acts 2:4), in the gifts of the Spirit, and the evidence of the fruit of the Spirit. We believe that all of these are available to believers. (Matthew 3:11; John 14:16-17; Acts 1:8; Acts 2:38-39; Acts 19:1-7; Acts 2:4; 1 Corinthians 12).

Sanctification

We believe in personal sanctification through the Word of God and by the Holy Spirit, we believe in personal holiness, purity of heart and life and that the process of sanctification is a definite, yet progressive, work of grace, which begins at the time of New Birth, continues throughout a believer’s life on earth, becomes manifest in the life of the person and includes regular time spent in God’s presence, regular study of and obedience to God’s Word, true repentance of personal sins committed and unconditional forgiveness of others who do wrong against the person. We believe that without holiness no man can see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14; 1 Thessalonians 5:23; 2 Peter 3:18; 2 Corinthians 3:18; Philippians 3:12-14; 1 Corinthians 1:30; John 15:16).

Divine Healing

We believe in divine healing, which is wrought by the power of God, through faith in the Name of Jesus Christ and that healing is received through the grace and mercy of God (Mark 16:18; James 5:14-16; 1 Peter 2:24; Matthew 8:17; Isaiah 53:4-5).

Return of Jesus Christ

We believe in the Christian’s hope of the imminent personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ  (when He shall return to earth as KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS and together with His saints He shall reign forever.(Acts 1:11; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; Revelation 19:16; Revelation 20:6).

Eternal Life & Eternal Retribution

We believe in the resurrection of the dead, the eternal happiness in the presence of God of the saved in the new Heaven (the person who physically dies in the state of personal salvation) and the eternal punishment, in Hell, of the lost (The person who physically dies in his sins without Christ) (Hebrews 9:27; Revelation 19:20; Revelation 20:15).
